These trimmers are heavier and more expensive than cable-driven trimmers, but they will stand up better to cutting heavy weeds and light brush. Also, if your needs are closer to the heavy-duty end of the work spectrum, buy a machine that powers the line head with a solid steel drive shaft and not a cable. If you need weed-trimming power above all else, they will provide it, particularly if you equip the trimmer with a heavy-duty line. The gas-engine machines here are pro-duty and take a 50:1 gas-oil fuel mix. If noise reduction is important to you, a cordless string trimmer is your obvious choice. A benefit that a battery-powered trimmer provides that a gas trimmer can’t touch is that it’s quiet. Although cordless string trimmers still lack the raw weed-slashing power of professional-grade gas-engine machines, they have narrowed the performance difference. Many people are looking to cordless string trimmers powered by a lithium-ion battery to meet their needs, especially in suburbia. Trimming a large and diverse rural property requires a far more robust power tool than if you live on a 1⁄4-acre lot. The harder you work the string trimmer, the tougher the machine you need to buy. Read on for quick info on the best string trimmers from our testing, then scroll down for buying advice and in-depth reviews.Ī string trimmer spins a line head by means of either a gas engine (in almost all cases burning a gas-oil fuel mixture) or it uses a lithium-ion battery and a DC motor. Equipped with an Aero-Flex trimmer attachment, a string trimmer can function as a mini mower for cutting grass and weeds in difficult areas such as on steep banks and ditches. You’ll be glad of this come winter because pavement with a neat edge is easier to clear of snow compared to one that is overgrown. The notch keeps grass and weeds from growing over the pavement’s edge. With a deft hand they can be turned sideways to cut a notch along sidewalks, patios and drives. They can cut down tall grass and weeds to keep border areas under control, either prior to mowing or as an alternative to mowing. Either way, the results should be a neat landscape. Some people mow then trim, others trim then mow (particularly those who bag the clippings). A string trimmer is the indespensible power tool that puts the finishing touches on a yard by shaving off grass that a lawn mower can’t reach. Using VR enables teammates to have real time collaboration together from anywhere in a 3D space. Remote Work And The Future of CollaborationĪs virtual collaboration platforms grow, they will provide a multitude of benefits including increased efficiency, reduction in commute time and cost of travel, the ability to better leverage flexible schedules, and enabling a wider range of geographic locations for a more global workforce. Furthermore, each vessel has a unique curvature and torsion and a variable radius, which together create a complex geometry.Ĭurrently, most clinicians only use cerebrovascular volume data for visualization. The vessels in the CoW are connected and twisted together, resulting in a complex topology. A total of 83 variations in the CoW have been reported. For example, some vessels may be duplicated, hypoplastic, or missing completely. Reports suggested a certain amount of variation in both the geometry and topology of the CoW. However, the small but definite risk of embolism and complications, such as pseudoaneurysms, contrast-associated reactions and vascular dissections. Time-of-flight(TOF) magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) via bright blood imaging is used to evaluate the intracranial vessels since this modality does not require invasive procedures such as catheter angiography. Currently, three-dimensional(3D) image of the cerebral vasculature can be acquired routinely using three different imaging modalities: X-ray 3D rotational angiography(3DRA), computed tomography angiography(CTA), and magnetic resonance angiography(MRA). Rapid advances in medical technology have led to the development of diagnostic tools for cerebrovascular diseases, based on imaging. This method was applicable to other tubular organs, such as the large intestine and bile duct. Our method was appropriate for the analysis of large medical image datasets derived from the automated pipeline for populations. The data verified the stability of our methodology. The distribution of the radii of symmetrical posterior cerebral artery(PCA) and angle values of the symmetrical posterior communicating arteries(PCo) demonstrated a certain correlation between the corresponding values of symmetrical vessels on the CoW. In addition to the torsion variance values in a few vessels, the variance values of all vessel characteristics remained near 1. The range of the curvature of all vessels was (0.3, 0.9) ± (0.1, 1.4). The anterior communicating artery(ACo) was the shortest vessel, with a length of 2.6mm. 47 in the open dataset) all values for different branches of CoW were calculated. The calculations used to derive these values were illustrated in detail. A B-spline curve was used to fit the skeleton, and geometric values were proposed for a one-dimensional skeleton and radius. The L1 medial axis method was applied to vessel volumetric data, which yielded a discrete skeleton dataset. The stochastic segmentation was improved and volumetric data were obtained. MethodĪn entire pipeline was designed with emphasis on automating each step. The current study aimed to provide a stable and consistent methodology for quantitative Circle of Willis (CoW) analysis and to identify geometric changes in this structure. Cerebrovascular shape analyses are essential for the diagnosis and pathological identification of these conditions. Interest is increasing toward understanding the geometric factors that influence cerebrovascular diseases, such as stroke. Cerebrovascular disease is the most common cause of death worldwide, with millions of deaths annually. Grains can be a very nutritious part of your kidney friendly diet. Once you’ve done this, anyone cloning the repository will also get the submodule, at the same commit. These uncommitted changes represent the addition of the submodule to your repository, and you must commit & push them as you would do with any other change. In Mercurial, there will be a “.hgsub” file instead but the principle is the same. You’ll see in the file status view that a couple of entries have been staged: In this case you’ve just added the submodule, but it’s not actually committed yet. ‘…’), or incoming / outgoing changes (up/down arrow). Submodule entries can also have annotations to let you know if there are uncommitted changes in the submodule (ellipsis annotation, i.e. If you wanted to see more detail about the submodule, just double-click on it to open it in its own repository window, from which you can, if you like, make changes to it just like any other repository. This tells you that your submodule is located in dependencies/sub1 and is currently on the ‘master’ branch. Once the submodule has cloned, you’ll see it appear in the sidebar like this: You’ll then be prompted to provide a source URL to clone the contents from, and the path within the current repository that this submodule will reside. Adding a submodule to your projectĪdding a new submodule to your project is simple, just right-click on a blank area of the sidebar and select ‘New Submodule’ (or select it from the Repository menu). The most common reason for wanting to do this is that your project has dependencies on other code bases (libraries for example), and you want to track those from their original sources rather than duplicating the files within your own repository.įor the sake of brevity from here on I’ll use the term ‘submodule’ to mean ‘subrepository’ as well, unless I’m talking about a Mercurial-specific feature. The terms may be different, but they refer to the same concept that of nesting other repositories within the folder structure of your own repository. You can also change the commit that is checked out in each submodule by performing a checkout in the submodule repository and then committing the change in the parent repository.Using submodules and subrepositories By Steve on February 1, 2012Ī headline feature of SourceTree 1.3 is the support for submodules (in Git) and subrepositories (in Mercurial). This is common when you are experimenting with different checked out branches or tags in the submodule and you want to restore it back to the commit tracked by the parent repository. Performing a submodule update is also useful when you want to restore your submodule’s repository to the current commit tracked by the parent repository. You would then fetch the latest changes in the submodule’s Git repository and perform a submodule update to check out the current revision referenced in the parent repository. You commonly perform this task after you pull a change in the parent repository that updates the revision checked out in the submodule. Performing a submodule update checks out that specific revision in the submodule’s Git repository. In this case the Git parent repository tracks the commit that should be checked out in each configured submodule. Alternatively to the tracking of a branch, you can also control which commit of the submodule should be used. Tapping it on shows a stream of the latest episodes starting with today. Inside the Library tab, you see a new episodes filter. The company should move the search option to the top right of the Home tab and remove it from the main navigation. I wish they’d break out their tabs like this: Home, Music, and Podcasts. Spotify’s library section has seen some new upgrades recently to help make things easier to find. I want to know what’s new and not what Spotify chooses to tell me is new. From a podcast perspective, it’s simply not how I consume my shows. I wish Spotify focused more on promoting entire albums from a music perspective, but that’s not their approach. Then, as you scroll, you’ll have a mix of shows you might like, playlists with new songs, your recently played items, your Made for your section, and more. When you first launch the Home tab in the morning, you’ll see a “Good Morning” section with recent shows that have new episodes along with playlist recommendations. However, if you’re like me, and you spend more time listening to podcasts than you do any other kind of audio content, a dedicated app will better serve you. So, if you’re looking for the TL DR of this article, Spotify is an excellent option if you listen to a few podcasts in your free time, but you primarily listen to music. Unfortunately, after spending time with Spotify, I can say that they haven’t - not for how I use podcasts and music, anyways. I’ve thought about this a lot, and I think I can sum it up to this: it’s tough to make a great music and podcast app as an all-in-one app, but if you can pull it off, it’ll be amazing. For example, do you want your music mixed in with podcasts? Is it easier to find new shows? Apple used to have an iPod app on the iPhone where it had all your music and videos, but they eventually separated it. There’s an argument to be made for creating a great app experience in terms of unifying everything inside a single app vs. As part of this experiment, I cleaned up my Spotify to match my Apple Music library. I’ve had a Spotify account for years, but I primarily use Apple Music for all of my music. As Spotify seeks to become a destination for all audio content, I spent time using it as my primary podcast player to see how it stacks up compared to apps like Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castro, and Player FM. Music royalties are expensive, so it makes sense for Spotify to focus on getting listeners to spend more time listening to content that isn’t as costly to the company. Spotify’s ambitions from expanding from primarily a music platform to leveraging podcast and audiobooks are well known. |
